A PENSIONER was today in a stable condition in York Hospital, after being involved in a road accident in which his brother was killed.
The injured man, aged in his 70s and from West Yorkshire, was one of three brothers travelling in a Isuzu Trooper which was involved in a collision with a dark-coloured Ford Escort Cosworth on the A19 near Easingwold, about 400 yards north of the Tollerton crossroads.
As reported in some editions of yesterday's Evening Press, the collision happened at 9.05am yesterday, as the Isuzu, driven by a 71-year-old man, was turning right into a farmhouse in which he and one of his brothers lived.
The vehicle collided with the Cosworth, which was travelling in the opposite direction, towards Easingwold.
The driver of the Izusu was uninjured, but suffered from shock. The man who died, aged 75, who also lived at the farm, was travelling in the front passenger seat.
The driver and sole occupant of the Ford, a 27-year-old man, was airlifted to Middlesbrough General Hospital and was today in a comfortable condition.
Witnesses to the incident should contact TC Andy Woodburn on 01723 509555.
Two men who were killed in an horrific road accident on the A1079 near York on Monday have been named as Gerrard Dunwell, 32, of Heron Close, Queensbury, Bradford, and his father-in-law, 63-year-old Brian Mitchell, of High Kirk Grove, Clayton, Bradford.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident between Sand Lane and Bolton Lane, Wilberfoss.
Anyone with any information should phone Driffield Police on 01377 232500 or Beverley Police on 01482 597900.
