PILMOOR Evening League champions Sheriff Hutton Bridge made a storming start to the defence of their title with an eight-wicket win at Sessay.
Sessay's Richard Till and Tommy Kay each made 30, while Danny Snowball (3-18) took the only wickets to fall as Sessay made 82-3. Bridge's opening pair Nick Scaling (41no) and Steve Crowder (34no) rapidly raced to 84-0 for a straightforward win.
Newly-promoted Newburgh also had an easy win in defeating Stillington, whose Shanuka Dissanayake (28) was the only batsman to make any real headway against Stuart Pierse (2-20) and Paul Doy (2-25).
Rob Proudley (51no) and James Banks (45no) took Newburgh to 99 without loss in the 13th over.
Thirsk's Dean Bramley (35), G Kelson (26) and John Cook (24) helped them to a respectable 109-5 against Easingwold, despite the efforts of Lee Richardson (2-5) and Tommy Langstaff (2-31).
After the loss of an early wicket, Paul Skilbeck (65no) and Chris Hull (36no) saw Easingwold home at 110-1.
Bruce Jackson with 34 and Brian Dale with 32 were in form when Alne reach 85-4 against Crayke, with Robert Dawson (2-25) having the best return for the visitors. Simon Lewis then held the Crayke innings together with an unbeaten 41 as his side took the points at 88-5. Andrew Teasdale (2-23) and Sean Kenny (2-14) had some success for the hosts.
In the second division, Huby got off to a winning start at Raskelf where Tom Piercy (23), Mark Mierzwinski (23), Darren Howell (21) and Chris Cundall (26) were all in the runs as they reached 121-4.
Trevor Reynolds led Raskelf's reply with 30 and C Borwell made 21 but they lacked support as their reply closed on 89-7. G Turgoose claiming 3-4.
Helperby's Ed Willey (23) and J Sowray (22) helped them to 78-6, against Clifton Alliance then Simon Corley with 34 and Paul Thorpe (21no) took Clifton to a comfortable win at 82-1.
C Todd (42) and Richard Tuite (30) were the main scorers as Rowntrees reached 108-4 at Sheriff Hutton. Joel Wilford made 24 and Tony Hull 30 to keep Sheriff in contention, but T Wills claimed 3-13 for Rowntrees who ran out winners by seven runs as Sheriff closed on 101-8.
