A CLASS of York's pupils exploded with enthusiasm while making their own volcano.
The eager Canon Lee science students painstakingly created the bubbling mountain to make the study of rock formations more interesting.
The volcano has been dubbed "Mount Roupee" in tribute to the head of department, Neil Roupee.
Teacher Warren Mapplebeck, who came up with the idea, said: "Making the volcano made the subject easier to teach and a lot more interesting.
"It really caught my class's imagination. It's the envy of the whole science department."
Pupil Scott Humpherson, 13, said: "It made the subject a lot easier to understand."
Lewis Barker, 12, added: "It was great fun making it."
