A GOLFER from York won't be scoring any birdies for a while - because a pair of blackbirds have built a nest in his clubs.
The happy couple set up home in the set of clubs belonging to Shaun Robinson, of Skelton, and the mother blackbird has since laid five eggs.
Shaun's mother, Sue, said: "The clubs are in a shed in the garden and don't get used very often, so she must have thought they'd be a good place to build the nest. She is very safe in there, I have two dogs so there are no cats in the garden and I'll be keeping a very close eye on her to make sure she and the babies are all right." Sue said she has never been into birdwatching but is a big lover of nature.
She added: "I just love my garden, the outdoors and everything that comes with it. I've got a jenny wren in the nesting box as well, so it must be my year this year."
A birdie is one of the names given to a score in golf.
