HELMSLEY Arts Centre is hosting a Flute Weekend (May 17-18) as part of its tenth birthday programme.
Anna Noakes, Professor of Flute at New Trinity College, directs the weekend's activities in the company of flautist Julie Murray and pianist Kathron Sturrock.
The weekend offers an opportunity for flautists to meet and play together. Students of all standards - elementary, intermediate and advanced - will be instructed by the professional flute players and coached in groups, ensembles and individually, and advanced students will play audition pieces to an audience and partake in a masterclass.
Tomorrow evening, the tutors and students will give a 7pm concert to fellow students and the public, and the following afternoon a more informal recital will be performed by the students.
The course fee is £30; the course listener ticket is £5 and tomorrow's concert tickets cost £7, concessions £6. To book places or tickets, ring 01439 771700.
