ONE man died today and his two brothers were injured when their four-wheel drive vehicle was in-collision with a car as they turned into the driveway of their farm on the A19 at Tollerton.

One of the men suffered serious a fractured leg and was taken to York Hospital. His brother, 71, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The male car driver suffered chest injuries was airlifted to Middlesbrough General Hospital by a helicopter from the Great North Air Ambulance division.

The dead man, who was a front seat passenger, was aged 75.

The brothers were in a Isuzu Trooper. The other car involved was a Ford Escort Cosworth.

Fire crews from Easingwold, Acomb and Ripon used specialist equipment to cut free the brothers.

Four paramedic crews also attended the scene at Tollerton crossroads. The crash site was close to their training school on the A19. They were called at 9.07am.

Mike Shanahan, ambulance service general manager, said:

Meanwhile, two heavy goods vehicles and a car were involved in an accident on the A1079 today - less than two miles from the scene of an horrific crash on Monday.

No one was hurt in today's crash, which happened between Kexby and Wilberfoss just before 7am, although the driver of a truck, 42-year-old Jim Bennie, from Hull, had to be cut free from his vehicle by fire crews.
