THIS York man is preparing to cycle more than 200 miles for charity. Angus Smith, 64, from Acomb, will set off on the two-day journey from Edinburgh to York on June 10.
Angus, who is heavily involved with the Royal British Legion, is trying to raise as much money as possible for the Poppy Appeal. It is the fourth time he has taken part in a charity bike ride. He has previously ridden from Aberdeen to York as well as from Holland to Dover.
He said: "I am looking forward to it as I know the ride quite well and am hoping for nice weather.
"It is a good way to see the countryside, and I wanted to do it anyway, so I might as well do it for charity."
Angus, who is married with two grown-up children, said his family thought he was mad at first, but they are used to his antics now. If you would like to support Angus you can sponsor him by phoning 01904 793446.
