THIS East Yorkshire pensioner is planning to celebrate his 90th birthday by swimming a kilometre at his local pool.
Jack Prince, of Back Lane, Barmby Moor, near Pocklington, has always been a keen swimmer. He decided there would be no better way to celebrate turning 90 on May 21 than taking a dip at Pocklington Swimming Pool.
His 1km sponsored swim is even more impressive as Mr Prince is registered blind. All the money he raises will go to Swim Vision, a charity for the partially-sighted. Mr Prince, who has lived at Barmby Moor for 17 years, said: "I have always enjoyed swimming. I have done a sponsored swim every five years and used to do a length for every year of my life."
He has already raised more than £200 and hopes to raise much more before the event.
