IN reply to David Buist's inquiry about the cost of water and rip-off places to avoid (May 10), I would suggest Browns of York. My wife wanted a drink of water and went to Couplands in Davygate.
Unfortunately they were closed so we went to Browns' caf. On presenting the bottle of water to the cashier we were asked for £1.45!
They were politely told to keep it and I went across to the bakery opposite and bought a bottle of water for her for 60p.
