man-of-the-match Chris Thompson inspired Heworth to a 2-0 win over Poppleton to land the York FA Junior Minor Cup at Bootham Crescent.
Thompson put his side in front when after just seven minutes he lobbed the Poppleton goalkeeper.
Poppleton's best spell was in the second half when three shots were all blocked by last-ditch tackles before Heworth doubled their lead 15 minutes from time. A Liam Wingfield free-kick cannoned off an upright for Matthew Fairclough to prod in from close range.
There was no joy, however, for Heworth in the York FA Intermediate Minor Final.
Heworth and opponents York Rovers were locked in a taut duel in which the stars were their respective goalkeepers, Michael Quarton and Adam Wilson.
It was only in extra time when either defence was punctured, Ben Branigan firing Heworth ahead only for Lee Acaster to level and take the final into a penalty shoot-out.
Rovers held their nerve to win the spot-kick finale 5-3, Joe Jackson netting the decisive penalty.
