A JUNIOR football team which brings youngsters from York's main army barracks together with local children, is looking for more players to swell its ranks.
Imphal Tigers, which was set up with a grant from the Ministry of Defence, currently has about 25 players, aged eight to ten, on its books, and has just finished its first season in the York Mitchell League.
But now the side, which is about half military children and half locals, wants to get even more youngsters involved.
Warrant Officer II Rob Young, who works at 15 (North East) Brigade's headquarters based at Imphal Barracks, in Fulford Road, is one of the parents who helps run the team.
He said: "We are calling on all those aspiring young David Beckhams and Michael Owens out there to come and join us. We have had a lot of fun this season and the kids get a lot out of it."
The team, which includes boys and girls, trains on Wednesday night on the Army's sports ground at Imphal Barracks.
Anyone interested in getting their child involved should call Mr Young on 01904 659860.
