IF YOU have ever wanted to break into the exciting and challenging world of journalism, now is your chance.
The Evening Press is again running its Write Stuff competition to give one budding reporter the chance of a job along with a nationally-recognised training package. The winner will spend time in the Evening Press news room before heading off for a training course at Darlington College. Former reporters at the Evening Press have gone on to work on national papers as well as television.
Entrants should have five GSCE passes at grade A to C and two A- level passes or expect to get them in the summer. They should also live in the Evening Press circulation area. For an application form, phone the editor's PA, Sky Ferrey, 01904 653051, or email sky.ferrey@ycp.co.uk or write to Sky Ferrey, Editor's PA, Evening Press, 76/86 Walmgate, YO1 9YN.
Entrants will be asked to write a genuine unpublished local news story of fewer than 400 words written in a newspaper style. They should make sure they are available for a selection exercise at our offices, in York, on Saturday, June 14.
The closing date is May 31. The winner will be expected to attend Darlington College's pre-entry course, starting in September.
