A GROUP of York school girls have shown they know their stuff when it comes to science.
The group from Bootham School have won the Salters Challenge at the Festival of Chemistry competition at York University.
The team was made up of Year Eight pupils Georgette Devos, Elizabeth Robinshaw, April Denison and Sarah Millman.
As part of the competition, which involved schools from across the North of England, the girls had to identify a culprit from a mock-up crime scene using chromatographic methods and chemical analysis of samples from suspects' clothing.
Bootham's head of chemistry, Mark Robinson, said: "The girls worked brilliantly as a team and we are all very proud of their achievement in winning this prestigious award."
