Goldrush dominated proceedings in Saturday's 45-entry at the Willows as the bigger fish in Ridgepool basked in the sun.
Last year's series winner Dave Armitage (Hirst Tackle) took a points maximum from the fancied peg 55.
Offering both pellets and worm at ten metres he bagged tench and skimmers to 2lb, plus the odd small carp, for his winning net of 45lb 4oz.
Dave Cheetham (Castleford) went close to another victory netting 42lb 7oz from peg 47 on the same lake. Pole and pellet at seven metres brought him carp to 3lb.

Paul Stead (JT Rogers) topped Sunday's 30-peg sell-out on Horseshoe Lake at the Raker complex, Wheldrake, with a creditable 48lb 3oz from unfancied peg 18.
Floating his pole to 18 metres to reach the far bank, he offered small pieces of meat over loose fed casters for carp to 6lb.
On peg four, Stuart Holmes (Tight Lines) stuck to an inside line where he had 32lb 10oz of carp to 5lb on pole and corn from under the bush to his right.

In-form Mark Coyne (MAP Elton) scored at the Oaks again, taking the 63-entry open on Maple Lake with 29lb 12oz. Offering pole and pellet tight to the far island at 13 metres he bagged carp to 2lb from peg 14.
On peg eight was Jeff Cross (Oaks) who also targeted the island with pellets and was rewarded with 26lb 2oz of carp to 3lb.

Kamasan champion Dean Smith (MAP Elton) made full use of a spare peg to top the 121-entry open at Woodlands.
Drawn peg two on Mallard he took most of his fish from under the platform of peg one. Alternating pellet and meat he bagged carp to 12lb plus tench and barbel for a level 65lb. Second place went to Dave Wathen (Leeds) who fished meat at 16 metres to the corner of the island opposite Dragonfly 13 for 58lb 10oz of carp to 8lb.
