Take a chance on Rellim at Redcar's first meeting of the season tomorrow.
Richard Wilman's sprinter lines up for the Manny Bernstein Pay Double Result Fillies' Handicap and will relish this lightning-quick five furlongs.
Rellim, a very speedy individual, has been in good form, just being touched off near the finish at Southwell two outings ago, and being beaten less than two lengths into sixth place at Ripon on her latest outing, when she raced down the unfavoured centre of the course.
The wily Dale Gibson takes the mount on Rellim tomorrow and the lightly-weighted four-year-old is napped to have the edge over the Nigel Tinkler-trained Mary Jane, winner of this race 12 months ago.
Gibson could enjoy a profitable afternoon, because he also teams-up with Sporting Gesture in the Manny Bernstein Handicap over 11 furlongs.
Trained by the in-form Mick Easterby, the six-year-old got home in a tremendous finish with Summer Bounty at Pontefract earlier in the month and may be even better suited by this extra furlong.
Polish Corridor, third in the Pontefract race, reopposes on 5lb better terms and looks sure to pose a danger, but Sporting Gesture is fancied to confirm his superiority.
At a meeting whoolly sponsored by bookmakers Manny Bernstein, Hakam is selected to break his duck in the apprentices' maiden handicap.
The John Berry-trained gelding ran consistently well last summer, but established a whole series of near-misses. A modest event such as this could be within his compass.
Kevin Darley has been riding out of his skin recently and the Sheriff Hutton jockey can make his presence felt aboard Cabeza de Vaca in the seven-furlongs maiden.
The three-year-old proved hard to win with last season, finishing second in three of his four starts. His winning turn can surely not be delayed much longer and with Mark Johnston, his trainer, now coming into form, he demands plenty of respect.
Peruvian Style, beaten only a head at Beverley on his debut earlier this month, is fancied to go one better in the two-year-old maiden auction stakes.
Ian Mongan's mount was only collared in the dying strides by Iron Temptress, the pair finishing five lengths clear of the remainder.
With that run under his belt, Peruvian Style will surely take some catching here.
At Southwell, Michael Jarvis can figure on the scoreboard with Kirkham Abbey in the betdirect.co.uk Handicap.
The three-year-old, having only her fourth race, broke her maiden over this course and distance at the beginning of the month. There could be more to come from Kirkham Abbey, who is fancied to complete an encore.
The precocious Cotosol (2.30) and the in-form Blakeset (4.35) are also worth considering on this all-weather programme.
Thursday's tips:
Redcar
2.30 Peruvian Style, 2.55 Hakam, 3.25 Efidium, 3.55 Rellim (Nap), 4.25 Cabeza de Vaca, 4.55 Sporting Gesture.
Southwell
2.30 Cotosol, 3.55 Caroubier, 3.35 Just Jennifer, 4.05 Mutasawwar, 4.35 Blakeset, 5.05 Kirkham Abbey.
- Tomorrow's other race meeting is at Hereford.
