A GOAL in extra time saw Duncombe Park shock RJF Homes Beckett League division one champions Kirkbymoorside Reserves by beating them in the Victory Cup Final at Kirkbymoorside.

The Moorsiders, who had the better of the first half, took the lead after eight minutes when Tom Gill scored.

Nine minutes later Duncombe Park fluffed a scoring chance when Jeremy Richardson crossed to Paul Brackley, who mis-hit his shot.

Five minutes before the interval a Chris Hodgson corner found Kirkbymoorside's Aaron Rivis, who headed wide. In the last minute of the first half Park's Brackley shot wide from 16 yards out.

Park were much more determined in the second half and deservedly equalised after 81 minutes, Liam Ogunshakin scoring from the penalty spot after a hand ball.

In the last four minutes the Moorsiders went close to scoring through Nicky and Chris Hodgson.

A second effort by Nicky Hodgson from 18 yuards out procuded the best save of the game by Park's keeper Andy Caine.

In extra time Brian Connor twice missed scoring chances before getting the winner for Duncombe Park after 102 minutes.

The cup and trophies were presented by Percy Featherstone, chairman of Hambleton District Council and a former Coxwold player and secretary, who also presented the first division championship award to Kirkbymoorside Reserves.

Black Swan Pickering play Rosedale in the RJF Homes Beckett League Marisa Sports Trophy final at Amotherby and Swinton's ground, East Street, Swinton, on Friday, kick off 6.30pm.

The Beckett League division two championship trophy and awards will be presented to Pickering Royal Oak, together with the division two and division one runners-up awards.

Black Swan got through to the Marisa Sports Trophy final thanks to a 1-0 semi-final win at Slingsby on Saturday.

Steve Sailes scored after 74 minutes. Sailes was sent off late in the game and several players were cautioned.

Slingsby had the ball in the back of the net later when Steve Bourne headed into his own goal but the goal was disallowed for a foul throw.

Rosedale beat Aislaby United 4-1. Martin Myers celebrated his 16th birthday by scoring two goals. Richard Dunn scored from the halfway line and David Gillies was on target with a header. Will Emms scored for Aislaby.

In the quarter-finals Rosedale had beaten Ryedale Sports Club Reserves 2-0 with goals by John Tindal and Ben Adamson.

Pickering Royal Oak completed their second division league programme with a 4-0 win over Coxwold and 7-1 win over Ampleforth to remain unbeaten.

Mike Connell and Daman Cox scored two each against Coxwold.

Cox and Lee Allardice scored two each against Ampleforth, with one each for Ben Thompson, John Appleyard and Mike Connell. Ben Wall scored for Ampleforth.

Cox finished the season as top scorer with 49.
