FORGET chocolate eggs and the Easter Bunny, it's reindeer that are all the rage in Pocklington.
The town's Chamber of Trade has already organised a Christmas extravaganza to attract visitors to Pocklington. The special guests to the Christmas Festival on Thursday, December 11, will be six real reindeer.
The reindeer, which come from a herd in the Cairngorms, in Scotland, will pull Santa's sleigh around the town. Visitors will be able to get a close look at the animals, which will include two young reindeer, in a pen in the centre of the town.
Joining the herd will be jugglers and people on stilts as well as a band from Pocklington School.
It is also hoped that carol singers from local church choirs will provide musical entertainment in Victorian costume. Shops will be staying open late for the event.
Secretary of Pocklington Chamber of Trade, David Gill said that the reindeer would add a touch of authenticity to the town's Santa's sleigh.
