SAYING farewell to York & County Press is Jean Daffern who has worked at the company's office in Malton for more than 11 years.
Jean, a receptionist who has worked with traders and many private advertisers in the Ryedale area during her career, previously worked in the offices of Woolworths store in the town for 18 years, and later for Safeway. A mother of three sons and a daughter, Jean, of Beverley Road, Norton, has nine grandchildren.
She was spending her last day in the Malton office today.
She and her husband, James, a retired hygiene operator at Malton Bacon Factory and previously manager at Derwent Plastics, plan to spend more time with their grandchildren.
Jean also aims to pursue her hobby of gardening, crosswords - and enjoying her weekly game of bingo!
