BRAVE Matthew Walwyn wore his York City shirt with pride at his father's funeral.
Keith Walwyn was a goalscoring hero to thousands of City fans and his 12-year-old son paid his own touching tribute as he said goodbye to his dad.
Across the front of the number nine shirt Keith had worn with such great distinction over the years were the words 'Simply The Best'.
Matthew held the hand of his mother, Liz, who was flanked by her other son, James, 18, as the procession entered St Michael's Church of England Church at Kirkham, near Preston.
All were at City's home game on Easter Monday where a minute's silence in memory of Keith was immaculately observed.
Many fans and former playing colleagues were at the service to pay tribute to Keith, who died, aged 47, last week after heart trouble.
