ON reading Turpin's story about Pam Mallinson's find of G clamps in the Bulmer store (April 19) perhaps if she'd researched back she would have found during our time at the post office my late husband, who was a time-served joiner, could well have had such things in stock along with tin-tacks, nails and screws etc.
We followed the previous owner Mr W F Lockwood, who was responsible for building the present shop in 1926. He stocked a large range of hardware and drapery, eg old-fashioned crossover pinnys, whale-bone corsets and several pairs of white stockings which would have interested an undertaker.
Perhaps Pam was lucky she only found G clamps.
Wishing her art and crafts venture every success.
Mrs Betty Gaugh,
(retired sub post mistress),
