MAY I please respond further to the report "Sexist" Race For Life slammed by campaigner (March 25), also to the editorial comment which stated "I was on the wrong track" and suggested I should organise a male equivalent to the Race For Life, instead of bogging down Cancer Research UK with an inappropriate battle of the sexes?

In my opinion, there should be no need for any "battle of the sexes" when all that is required is some good old common sense.

For the record, I did suggest to Cancer Research UK that a male- only event should be organised as a compromise - in vain!

Further, one thing I will never do, is initiate any legal action against Cancer Research UK - despite the fact that Race For Life is in breach of Section 29 of the 1975 Sex Discrimination Act.

Nevertheless, why should the fairer sex only be exploited by Cancer Research UK as fundraisers, when cancer affects both sexes virtually in equal numbers?

I take this opportunity to wish all those female participants in Race For Life on May 11 my very best wishes - but, let's tackle the dreaded cancer together without discrimination next year.
