OPTICARE will face York Nomads in the final of this season's Mecca Trophy after victory over third division Bridge Colts in the second semi-final.
Goals from Brundrett and the prolific Matty Bastock gave Opticare a 2-0 half-time lead and despite Tolworthy pulling one back for Colts, Opticare held on for a 2-1 win.
In the league, Nestl Rowntree suffered only their second reverse of the season when they went down to a Marcia side still harbouring first division title hopes. Smith, O'Brien and Miles were their scorers in a 3-1 win, Ward netting for 'Trees.
Marcia lost that advantage when they went down on Thursday 2-0 to goals from Ducey and Gaughan at Severus SC. Rowntrees bounced back on the same evening with a 10-0 thumping of Acomb WMC with Battersby getting four and Ward three. Hounds then moved to the top courtesy of a 5-0 win over Pack of Cards. Collier netted a hat-trick.
In division two it's now advantage Selby Olympia as they lead the table by a single point after a 0-0 draw at second-placed Derwent Utd who had earlier beaten Derwent Arms 4-2. Both teams only have one game left to play.
Bridge Colts moved into second place in division three with two victories in the week.
First, they crushed relegated Copmanthorpe 9-0 followed by a 2-0 win over Nestl Flag courtesy of goals from Smith and Burgess.
Wigginton GH kept their unbeaten league record intact. After Sullivan and Johnson gave Haxby Lions a 2-0 lead they replied through Seal and Woods to secure a point. Wigginton followed up with a 3-0 win over Black Bull to clinch the championship.
Two goals from Joe Gaughan and one apiece for O'Shaunessy and Barley enabled Volunteer Reserves to inflict a first division four defeat on Fulford followed by a 4-0 win over Old Grey Mare.
Heworth gained promotion from division five when Hambleton crashed to a 4-1 home defeat to Barlby for whom Hughes hit a hat-trick.
In division six Bay Horse (Tad) require victory in their last game at home to Pock Rangers for promotion after they drew 2-2 at leaders Selby Olympia Reserves thanks to an own goal and a strike from Parsons. Pearson and Chadwick the scorers for Selby.
Edinburgh Arms suffered two defeats 2-0 at Selby and 3-1 at Kingsway Riders for whom Rudy Dear scored twice.
