PEOPLE in North Yorkshire have the chance to join a body which keeps an independent eye on the activities of their county councillors.
All members of North Yorkshire County Council have signed up to the code of conduct and registered their interests. These are available for public scrutiny.
The county council's standards committee has been set up to:
Promote good decision-making by members of the council
Approve and monitor and provide training on the code of conduct
Ensure members declare any interests they have when making decisions.
Anyone who would like to be considered as an independent member of the standards committee should contact the county council. The positions are voluntary, although travelling subsistence and allowances will be paid to the successful applicants.
If you're interested in applying, please contact the Head of Committee Services, County Hall, Northallerton, North Yorkshire DL7 8AD, either in writing or email committee@northyorks.gov.ukor phone 01609 532848 for more information and an application form.
