IN response to your report 'Fans' anger over bottle attack' (April 22nd). I along with my wife and father-in-law travelled to Sincil Bank to watch York play Lincoln last Saturday.
After the match, we (the away fans) were "escorted" by the police towards the railway station.
Despite speaking to the police we were not allowed to return to our car which was parked only a few hundred yards from the football ground.
It was not long before we were involved in what can only be described as chaos.
We were caught in a hail of bottles, glass, stones and coins - one of which flew just past my face. Still the police instructed us to continue towards the station.
How the Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire police can suggest they have no record of this incident is beyond me. Incidents such as this should not be ignored.
Our aim for Easter Saturday was to visit the great city of Lincoln and support the team we love. Instead, we left shocked, frightened and above all angry. I very much hope that Lincoln City, York City and the police look into this matter, so that visiting fans of the future can be assured of an enjoyable and safe matchday experience.
