Thank you for your empathetic story and comment on Monday regarding the demise of Huntington (Villagers in 'snub' clash on stadium, April 21).
I applaud the parish council in its efforts to keep Huntington a quiet rural community. This was the very aspect of Huntington that attracted me here almost 15 years ago but of course that was in the good old days of Ryedale.
I didn't realise Huntington was "adopted" by York city so that it could be used for the overspill quite out of proportion to the other outlying areas of York, nor did I expect to be inundated with football fans on a regular basis!

...Until reading your headline on Monday, "Villagers in 'snub' clash on stadium" and then P Richardson's letter on Tuesday "Down in the dumps"; I was feeling like the witness on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? who was astounded to hear everyone clapping when the major won a million pounds.
He said he wondered: "Am I really the only one who noticed it wasn't right."
How many more Huntington residents feel that the over-developments planned for our community are not reasonable or equitable?
