YORK City fans have been thanked for their 'overwhelming' kindness since the death of striking legend Keith Walwyn last week.
Walwyn's widow Liz has received numerous flowers, cards, letters and calls of condolence from City fans saddened by the death of the club's second all-time leading goal-scorer.
Mrs Walwyn, who was a special guest along with her eldest son James at City's 0-0 draw with Kidderminster on Monday, told the Evening Press: "I would just like to thank everyone for all their support. I have been so overwhelmed by it."
City fans have been invited to the service in memory of Walwyn to be held on Friday at St Michael's Church of England parish church in Kirkham, near Preston.
The church service starts at 10.30am after which there will be a private ceremony at a nearby crematorium.
