A CAR driver involved in a collision which left a three-year-old boy fighting for his life has been arrested.
Callum Keith MacDonald, from Selby, was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary after the collision on the A645 at Drax. He was described today as critical but stable.
Sergeant John Suchomski, of York Police said a dark green Renault Scenic had crossed into the opposing carriageway to overtake and drove into the path of a silver Peugeot travelling towards Airmyn.
The Peugeot took evasive action to avoid a collision with the Renault and hit the nearside kerb and lost control.
The Peugeot then collided with a silver Vauxhall Vectra. The driver of the Renault did not stop at the scene of the crash.
A police spokesman said the driver of the Renault Scenic had been arrested and had been released on police bail until May 25.
Police are still appealing for witnesses to the accident, which occurred at about 10am on Easter Monday.
Anyone with information should contact York Police on 01904 631321.
