THE Queen's birthday celebrations took place in traditional style in York.
The military spectacle provided the highlight of Easter Monday festivities in the city.
The Royal Salute was fired at noon to celebrate Her Majesty's birthday.
The 21-gun salute was hosted by Brigadier David Shaw, the Army Commander for York Garrison and North East England, at the Museum Gardens, the saluting station for the entire North of England.
An inspection was carried out by Sir Paul Nicholson, the Lord Lieutenant of Durham.
A saluting troop with three 105 light guns was provided by soldiers of 40 Regiment Royal Artillery from Topcliffe.
