STAFF, volunteers and visitors to Woodlands Respite Care Centre in York helped launch a new resource centre.
The MS Society-run centre, which offers respite care to 400 people a year, launched the new centre to improve choice for anyone affected by the condition.
Based in a new £180,000 extension at Woodlands, the Resource Centre provides access to a range of resources and reference material for people affected by MS, their families, carers and health and social care professionals.
Open every Thursday, between 10am and 2pm, and the first Saturday of each month, between 10am and 2pm, visitors can use the resource centre to find information about the management of symptoms, latest research news, seek advice about services, guidance on learning, work opportunities and employment rights.
The launch was also attended by Mike O'Donovan, chief executive of the MS Society, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Vanessa Lindsay Smith, Woodlands' general manager, said: "Not only do we offer respite care for people with MS and their families, but for a long time, Woodlands has been promoting better understanding to local authorities in their services for people with MS."
