A MAN was today helping police with their inquiries after a 60-year-old man was left in a critical condition following an assault outside a York pub.
Police have made a fresh appeal for witnesses after the assault on the man at Yates's Wine Lodge, Low Ousegate.
Paramedics were called to the riverside walk following the incident at about 11pm. Police sealed off the area and scenes of crime officers visited on two occasions.
A spokesman for York Police said: "We are still seeking witnesses or anyone one who was in the area of Yates's Wine Lodge on the evening of Friday, April 19, at about11pm, when a serious assault took place.
"The injured person still remains in a critical condition in hospital and a person has been assisting police with inquiries."
