POLICE and highways experts are holding talks about the safety of an A64 flyover following several road accidents including one fatality.
The talks have been prompted by concern that the sharp right-hand curve for motorists joining the by-pass at Brambling Fields flyover, Norton, may be a hazard.
The curve has a crash barrier there is no sign to indicate the bend, according to Cyril Shreeve, secretary of Malton, Norton and district road safety committee.
Tony Wright, of North Yorkshire County Council's highways department, said the police and Highways Agency were in discussions about the flyover.
"There have been a number of accidents where vehicles have gone off the road on the bend," he said.
Signs advising motorists on the maximum speed to take the bend could help.
An investigation is also being made into the signs warning of racehorses being ridden on the Wolds roads leading out of Norton. Mr Wright said that following concerns by trainers, an investigation was being made to see if the signs needed upgrading.
