TINY babies on a specialist ward at York Hospital have benefited from the giant effort made by dedicated parents and staff.
The Special Care Baby Unit Support Group raised a mammoth £45,000 in just over a year, which has paid for four new oxygen-integrated incubators.
Lynne Britton, chairwoman of the support group, said: "We raised just over £45,000 which we wouldn't have been able to do without the local people.
"People are really generous.
"Although we have to work hard putting on events, we don't have to work hard getting people to put their hands in their pockets.
"Sadly some of the money comes from funeral donations where the babies haven't made it. Unfortunately the equipment doesn't help everyone."
Mrs Britton said the next project for the support group was to purchase a new ECG monitor, which monitors pulse and breathing rates.
