MEMBERS of a York cadet unit are set to take on a gruelling challenge as part of their fundraising campaign for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Cadets from B Company, Yorkshire (North and West) Army Cadet Force, will head to Catterick for Exercise Hard Slog later next month, where ten teams of eight cadets will cover 50 kilometres cross-country in 24-hours.
The 13 to 18-year-olds are looking for more sponsors for the event to help them raise even more for the lifeline charity.
The cadets have already got the ball rolling with charity collections and bag-packing for customers at Asda, Monks Cross, York, and are running a grand prize raffle with top prizes ranging from weekends away to helicopter and light aircraft flights. Anyone who can offer sponsorship to the cadets or who wants to enter the raffle should phone Capt Andy Halliwell on 01904 659052.
