DIGGERY the mole helped launch a new kids club which will give youngsters the chance to experience life as an archaeologist.
Diggery, who is the mascot for the Archaeological and Resource Centre (ARC) and Jorvik, launched the club on Thursday. Based at the ARC centre in St Saviourgate, it will give youngsters aged six to 11-years-old the chance to be an historian or archaeologist and take part in activities.
It will be held every Saturday through term time with week long programmes during the summer holidays.
Children can attend a free taster session on April 21 and 26 from 10am to noon.
ARC managing archaeologist Ian Carlisle said: "Due to the popularity of history and archaeology shows on television and visitor attractions like Jorvik, interest in the past has never been greater, particularly with children."
