MAY I make a few suggestions in relation to the Persimmon planning application to build houses on Bootham Crescent.

Firstly that houses are built on Huntington Stadium and not Bootham Crescent and secondly that York City and the Rugby League team both play at Bootham Crescent.

It may seem a silly suggestion but there are major advantages. York City and the Knights would both prosper and the council could see the back of a loss-making facility.

The only thing required for this to come to fruition is that Bootham Crescent Holdings accept the swap. The running track could be accommodated as part of a school improvement.

Before my suggestions are dismissed out of hand I would ask people to view the alternative. Both York teams struggling in front of vastly reduced crowds with City eventually going into the Conference.

York would become a city without any professional team and the council tax payers would still have a loss making facility (Huntington Stadium) on their hands.

Please do not think that City moving to Huntington Stadium will solve everybody's problems.
