REMOVAL of the running track is the number one wish of York City supporters ahead of the club's proposed move to Huntington Stadium.
Supporters, asked to submit a top-five wish-list of facilities they would like to see included in the redeveloped site, earmarked the relocation of the track as a must.
The complete list of top ten supporter wants are: 1, the removal of the track; 2, improved car parking; 3, a terraced home stand; 4, all stands to be covered; 5, a concourse under the stands with food and drink outlets; 6, a pub and social club/sports bar; 7, good public transport to and from the ground; 8, a stand in memory of David Longhurst; 9, improved toilet and disabled facilities; 10, a family stand and children's facilities.
Other suggestions from fans included a club shop, hospitality suites, a creche and study centre, an electronic scoreboard and a quality public address system.
All the completed coupons and fan demands - a poll was also conducted on the supporters' on-line discussion forum www.yorkcityfc.com - will now be passed on to the architects appointed to design the redeveloped ground.
"The wishes of the supporters have instilled the board with confidence because their priorities match our thoughts regarding the redevelopment of the stadium, along with other income generated facilities," said club director Sophie McGill.
McGill said a number of the completed forms focused on the improvement of disabled facilities.
"As a result, we have written to those individuals to request their assistance in forming a disabled supporters' forum to ensure the right facilities for disabled fans are included in the redeveloped stadium," she said.
"One of the fans has already responded to the idea and is very keen to get involved."
The intention is for City to move to Huntington Stadium in time for the start of the 2004/05 season. However, the ground needs a massive overhaul to bring it up to Football League standards.
Athletes who use the running track have started a campaign to keep the track at its current home, which is also used by the York City Knights rugby league team.
