New Earswick Indoor Bowls Club's former England international player Jeanette Coulson was in sparkling form in the Yorkshire Ladies Knockout Singles final at Hornsea.
She easily beat Scarborough's current international player Carol McLean 21-7, though it didn't look as though it was going to be so easy when McLean led 7-5 before Coulson won seven successive ends, finishing with a four followed by two three's.
York Indoor Bowls Club's Linda Harrison, Betty Richardson and Dot Kennelly had a fantastic game against Ryedale's Betty Stubbing's side.
Trailing 9-1 after nine ends, the York ladies fought back to lead 10-9 five ends later. Ryedale came back and had a 13-12 advantage going into the last end, where deservedly the York side picked up a two to clinch the game 14-13.
The second leg of the Lily Robertson Trophy proved to be a one-sided affair at Huntington Road as New Earswick coasted to a 90-66 victory, taking the trophy with an aggregate 168-146 win against the York Ladies.
Lyz Jerrum, Barbara Brigham, Madge Watson and Hazel Sigsworth continued their success from the first leg with another easy victory.
They were 4-0 down to York's heroes from last week, Irene Paylor, Doreen Arnett, Pat Ellis and Pat Lofthouse, after two ends, but then won 12 of the next 13 ends, scoring 26 shots to only one against, including a six and a five to lead 26-5.
The visitors gained some respect by winning five of the last six ends, but couldn't prevent a 28-12 home victory.
Peg Walker, Diane Hardy, June Barker and Margaret Blows were involved in an exciting tussle with Cath Blease, Maureen Wallace, Josie Parker and Doreen Hague.
The score was 15-13 to the visitors after 13 ends and the home side scored seven shots without reply. Blease's side fought back but went down 22-20.
Betty Petty, Dot Kay, Julia Scarborough and Pat Lancaster were drawn against the same opponents from last week, Clarice Johnston, Joyce Botting, Mavis Puckering and Norma Reed, and followed their 27-15 success at Thanet Road with an equally crushing 28-10 victory.
York's only success came from Margaret Smith, Sylvia Walker, Doreen Tyson and Olive Dalby, who led 10-0 after only five ends. Five ends later the score was 12-9 as Clarice Robinson, Maureen Shorrocks, Jean Lister and Kath Hardcastle got themselves back into the game. However, it was short-lived as Smith's side stepped up a gear again to go on and win 24-12.
