TRIALS to select a team to represent York and Selby schools in the North Yorkshire Athletics Championships are being held at Huntington Stadium on Thursday, May 15 starting at 1.45pm.
The championships will also be held at Huntington Stadium on Saturday, June 14.
Entry forms are in all Secondary Schools and should be completed and returned to Wayne Isherwood at Sherburn High School, no later than Wednesday, May 7, 3.30pm. Late entries may not be accepted.
The age groups are:
Junior boys and girls: Under 15 at midnight August 31/Sept 1. Years 8 and 9 only.
Inter boys and girls: Under 17 at midnight August 31/Sept 1. Years 10 and 11 only.
Senior boys and girls: Under 20 at midnight August 31/Sept 1. Post 16 years.
Athletes in the junior and inter age groups may be selected for only one event. Seniors may be selected for two events.
Anyone finishing in the first three in more than one event on the day of the trials must indicate to the announcer before the end of the meeting which is their preferred event.
If an athlete is unavailable for the County Championships, they should also notify the announcer.
A programme of events and officials will be sent to each school as soon as possible.
This year's North Yorkshire Regional Combined Events competitions are to be held in York on June 28 and 29. Seniors and inters will be in action on both days with junior boys competing on the first day and junior girls on the second.
The scheduled events are -
Junior girls and junior boys (years 8 and 9): hurdles, 800m, long jump, high jump, shot.
Intermediate girls (Years 10 and 11): 80m hurdles, 200m, 800m, long jump, high jump, shot, javelin.
Intermediate boys (years 10 and 11): 100m hurdles, 400m, 1500m, long jump, high jump, shot, javelin, discus.
Senior girls (Post 16): 100m hurdles, 200m, 800m, long jump, high jump, shot, javelin.
Senior boys (Post 16): 100m hurdles, 100m, 400m, 1500m, long lump, high jump, pole vault, shot, discus, javelin.
Nominations are invited from schools for athletes to represent North Yorkshire in this competition in the various age groups.
