VISITORS to the East Coast should find it easier to park and ride this summer, with improved facilities at a busy car park.
The Weaponess site, in Scarborough, has been upgraded as part of the council's commitment to improve public transport and provision for coach visitors.
Extra bus stops have been put in, the layout has been changed and the entrance is now better.
Three new stops have been placed around the site, all with flag signs signalling their position, and there are new litter bins, bus boarder kerbs and timetables.
Existing coach parking bays have increased in size to accommodate vehicles up to 15metres long.
The layout of the car park has also been improved to allow up to 398 cars and 38 coaches.
Funding has also been secured to upgrade the access road.
Councillor Godfrey Allanson, cabinet member for environment and transport at Scarborough Borough Council, said: "The council is committed to ensuring that coach travel to and from Scarborough is as easy, convenient and enjoyable as possible.
"These changes to the facilities and layout at Weaponness and its access will help us to achieve that."
