TRANSPORT chiefs in York were in a twist today as they introduced six new "bendy buses" to the city.
Councillor Tracey Simpson-Laing, City of York Council's executive member for transport, and First managing director Jonathan May, unveiled the £200,000 vehicles at the Eye of York.
Capable of carrying 170 passengers, the buses will reduce waiting times and overcrowding on Park&Ride services. Services will operate from Grimston Bar, Askham Bar and Rawcliffe Bar.
The buses were given a trial in the city last August, and proved popular with passengers.
Mr May said: "We have invested over £1 million in these specialist vehicles to improve the safe, reliable and high-quality service that our customers have come to expect."
Customers wanting to find out details of changes to services should contact York's bus information office on 01904 551400.
