EASTER came early for children at a Yorkshire hospice - thanks to hundreds of motorcyclists who frequent the same caf bar.

Several hundred bikers, each with an Easter egg, travelled in convoy from Squire's Caf Bar, at Newthorpe, Sherburn-in-Elmet, to Martin House children's hospice at Boston Spa.

The Easter egg run has now become an annual event, with bikers also chipping in £3 each to take part.

The money will be shared between the hospice, Sherburn-in-Elmet's Peter Pan Nursery for children under-five with special needs, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

After delivering the eggs at Martin House, the bikers travelled to Premier Bikes, in Askern, near Doncaster, to collect a raffle ticket.

They then went to the Big Chef, at Crockey Hill, near York, and back to Newthorpe, where they picked up two more raffle tickets.

The raffle draw was held last night at Squire's Caf Bar, where a Bryan Adams tribute band was performing as part of a charity bash.

Organisers Lynne and Graham Penhaligon, of Tadcaster, said they hoped to raise more than £1,200 for the three charities.
