HUNDREDS of ducks brought a splash of colour to an East Yorkshire village - and helped raise hundreds of pounds for the local pre-school.
The annual Duck Dash took place at Barmby Moor yesterday when hundreds of yellow plastic ducks were released into the beck for 11 races.
Stalls were set up and games were also arranged in the centre of the village and at the village hall.
The day was organised by the Barmby Moor Pre-School and Toddlers committee to raise funds for equipment.
Committee vice-chairman Sue Johnson said the event was a real success.
She said: "It was a really good day, we had a good turn-out and the weather was really good.
"I want to thank all the committee members and everyone that helped. Without them it wouldn't have gone so well."
Meanwhile, visitors flocked to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as a three-day diesel gala took over the tracks.
Heritage diesel locomotives from the North York Moors attraction were on show, as well as special "guest" trains ferrying enthusiasts along the line.
The railway's marketing manager, Caroline Dickinson, said the event had been a great success.
"It was very busy all weekend," she said.
"There was just a real variety of engines for people to come and see. People who are enthusiasts travelled from all over the country to travel behind them."
