THE Battle of Towton, the bloodiest in Yorkshire's history, was being commemorated in York with a display of medieval costume and weapons at Barley Hall.
The event, which continues tomorrow with guided tours of the battlefield near Tadcaster, is marking the 1461 clash, which saw as many as 30,000 men slaughtered.
