Fulford member Peter A Jones has had a week to remember after having his handicap reduced by a remarkable seven shots following two club competitions.
It is believed to be the first time this has happened at Fulford within living memory.
Jones, who comes from a golfing family - his father Peter R Jones is a long-standing Fulford member, while his mother Judy was lady captain in 2001 - was given a handicap of 17 after putting in the required three cards on joining the club as a full member after being a country member.
He won the March stableford with 48 points and was pulled three shots, while last weekend he took the honours in the first round of the President's Putter with a five under par 67 to win on a countback from David Try. This resulted in a further two-shot reduction, followed by a further two under Rule 19 which deals with general play.
Rigby wins
LINDA Rigby won Fulford GC's ladies section's April medal and spring Crummock with a two under par 72, one shot ahead of Anne Topping.
