THE boss of The Blue Bicycle said today there would be a "party atmosphere" at the York restaurant when it reopened its doors tonight.
David Rose said the Fossgate eatery, which he runs with partner Sarah Brownbridge, would be open from 6pm, following talks with the landlord and solicitors.
Staff, suppliers and customers had been shocked to discover the restaurant, which is thought to have an annual turnover of more than £1 million, stopped trading on Wednesday after bailiffs changed the locks.
Mr Rose blamed personal problems which had "spilled into our business relationship and dealings" for the temporary closure.
Today the famous bicycle had returned to its resting place outside the restaurant's front door and Mr Rose said the eatery had been busy taking telephone bookings.
He said: "The restaurant is open from 6pm. We have been taking a lot of bookings and are just about full. There will be a party atmosphere at the Blue Bicycle."
