A RURAL women's group is celebrating its 20th birthday in York.
The Yorkshire Countrywomen's Association (YCA), will gather its 4,000 members together on April 29, for a service of thanksgiving in York Minster. Joining the women at 10.30am will be the Lord Mayor of York, Coun David Horton, and Michael Bradford, chairman of the Association of British Counties.
YCA honourable secretary, Pat Blacker, said: "We're all thrilled to be celebrating 20 years. The members are delighted and we've planned a whole year of events to celebrate." Other celebratory events include a talk by artist Ashley Jackson, at Askham Bryan College, on May 8, a celebration lunch at York Racecourse, on June 10, craft demonstrations at the Great Yorkshire Show, in July, a day at the Merchant Adventurers' Hall, on September 17 and a carol service at York Minster, on December 5.
