Tadcaster Swim Squad completed the Yorkshire ASA Championships in the final weekend of events at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Andrew Cowan, 14, finished fourth in the 200m breaststroke in a personal best time of two minutes 53.54 seconds.

Jessica Walker knocked six seconds off her pb with a time of 1-27.91 in the 11 years 100m backstroke.

Nine-year-old Aimee Milner swam well in the 9/10 years 50m breaststroke and was fourth place in the 200m butterfly.

Ben Walker knocked two seconds off his pb in his 50m freestyle (30.44) and 11-year-old Philippa Black swam her fastest-ever time in the 200m breaststroke (3-29.33).

Tadcaster's 9/10-year-old girls swam together in a relay event. The medley team comprised Natalie Carter (10), Tamsin Boynton (9), Aimee Milner (9) and Joanne Davey (10). The freestyle quartet consisting of Aimee Milner (9), Belinda Yeldon (9), Rebecca Smith (9) and Natalie Carter (10), finished 12th overall.

Tadcaster coach, Donna Carter, said: "The individual results have been excellent, and the team effort of the 9/10-year-old girls was outstanding. I'm absolutely delighted with the results throughout the Championships."

Several of the Tadcaster swimmers are now hoping to build on their success when they compete in the North Eastern Counties ASA Championships, which are to take place in May and June.

Four boys from New Earswick Swimming Club competed in the Yorkshire Junior/Senior Championships.

James Richards (14) had the best results with sixth in the final of the 50m backstroke and reserve finalist places in the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Tony Shaw made the final of the men's 200m individual medley and finished seventh. Mark Baldry and Ian Smithson both swam personal best times.
