I HADN'T actually realised how much of a tabloid the Evening Press was until I read the headline "Baghdad Is Ours" (April 7). Baghdad belongs to who exactly? The Evening Press? The US? Perhaps the UK?
The last time I checked, there were still Iraqi civilians living in Baghdad. I don't suppose by some miracle that they might actually have some claim to their own city?
I can see that you are publicising the advances being made in Iraq but why adopt this gung-ho attitude? I can only presume that your editor would very much like to be the next Piers Morgan of the Daily Mirror, albeit on a slightly more local level.

Letters editor's note:
Letters published during the war in Iraq have resulted in a powerful response from readers. Some readers have asked why we allow very strong views to be aired in print. The Evening Press believes in freedom of speech within the law and that proper debate will sometimes include views that many people find unpalatable. However, it is important that all sides are heard.
We thank all readers who have contributed letters about the war so far. We will continue to print a wide selection as events unfold.
