A Ryedale man has appeared before York magistrates on 21 charges of child abuse.
Michael James Allen, 56, of Scarborough Road, Norton, is alleged to have committed seven rapes, seven indecent assaults and seven gross indecencies in the 1970s and 1980s, mostly in York and North Yorkshire. Two women made the allegations. They were schoolgirls at the time of the alleged attacks. Magistrates sent the case to York Crown Court for trial and released Allen on bail. He is due to appear before a judge on April 28.
