TROPHY holders York Ladies will take a slender advantage into the second leg of the Lily Robertson Trophy final against New Earswick tomorrow.
York notched only one success in the four rinks of the first leg to lead 80-78. Their sole victors were Irene Paylor, Doreen Arnett, Pat Ellis and Pat Lofthouse. Soaring into a 13-0 lead after four ends against Jean Daniel, Anne Bristow, Dot Stather and Hazel Sigsworth, they cantered to a 31-6 win.
Locked at 18-18 were the York rink of Cath Blease, Maureen Wallace, Jean Williams and Doreen Hague against Clarice Robinson, Maureen Shorrocks, Julia Scarborough and Kath Hardcastle.
Otherwise, it was all New Earswick, whose Betty Petty, Diane Hardy, Margaret Pearson and June Barker included a seven in their easy 27-15 defeat of Clarice Johnston, Joyce Botting, Mavis Puckering and Norma Reed.
Equally impressive were Lyz Jerrum, Barbara Brigham, Avril Brown and Pat Lancaster in their 27-16 beating of York's Margaret Smith, Carole Pink, Dot Tyson and Olive Dalby.
